A very good morning to all
It is my privilege and pleasure to present the college annual report for the year 2009 - 10. Our institution has made rapid stride in the field of teacher education following the dreams of Dr. P K Abdul Gaffoor. The College stands for upholding the great principles which the MES stands for.
Result
We are extremely proud to announce the results of University examination last year. Out of 87 students who appeared for the examination one got distinction, 64 won 1st class, 19 were placed in second class and one in third class.
Bini M.A from commerce scored Top mark and Shakkeela KK from commerce scored 2nd position.
Sajana AJ (English) Naja V.R (Social Science), Fasila M (Maths), Rakhi EG (Natural Science) and Shakkeela T K (Physical Science) are the top scorers in the respective optionals.
Our performance last year was outstanding and extremely gratifying. In this respect I put on record the great appreciation and heart felt gratitude to the teaching faculty.
I am particularly thankful to the Secretary for his sustained support in achieving the great goal.
Admission
This academic year we have a total strength of 92 students in 6 optional subjects as Commerce 8, English 25, Social Science 9, Mathematics 5, Natural Science 17, Physical Science – 18. Regular classes for the 1st Semester started on 26th October 2009.
The Conventional pattern of B.Ed Course has been totally changed by the introduction of Credit and Semester System with grading (CBCSS). It places different demands on the faculty. As per University directives Mrs. Sunitha Sebastian is appointed as Programme Co-ordinator.
Student Support Services
It is very hard to organize various programmes during the tight schedule of the Semester System. A few co-curricular activities were organized as it is essential for the development of future teachers.
On 18th Nov, 2009 organised talent show programme for the new students.
Election to the College Union was conducted on 9th Dec. as per the University directives. The students sworn as office bearers are

College Union inauguration was held on 6th Feb. 2010. Hon. Dr. Radhakrishnan, former Vice-Chancellor, Sri Sankara University, Kalady, inaugurated the College Union activities and Sri Tini Tom – Cine Artist inaugurated Arts Club for the year.
College community celebrated X’mas on 17th Dec. in the spirit of jy and happiness.
Arts and Literary Competitions are held on 31st May, 2010. Pearl house won the 1st position with maximum points.
Newton’s club activities inaugurated by Mrs. Sindhu Ramesh, Lecturer, Patriarch Ignatious Zakkai Training College Melecruz on 10th June, 2010.
A seminar on constructivism Piaget’s Theory of Learning by Dr. Arjun, principal, Hill valley College of Education was organized on 20th January.
Conducted seminar on “Threats of Life Answer to value based questions” by Krupa Pro Life movement on 23rd January.
A seminar on models of Teaching by Mrs. Sreelekha, Lecturer UCT, Muvattupuzha was organized.
As a part of SUPW students visited old age home at Chunanganvelli on 28th May.
Environmental Awareness Programme
In connection with world environment Day students planted trees in College Campus and Govt. Higher Secondary School campus, Kunjattukara. The programme is organized in collaboration with Edathala Panchayat and G. Higher Secondary School, Kunjattukara. As a part of the celebration conducted a rally from college to school.
Students conducted classes on energy conservation at practice Teaching schools as per the direction from Advanced centre of Environmental Study and sustainable Development, (ACESSD) MG University.
Mathematics club organized seminar by Benny P A, SRG Govt H S School, Njarakkal on 19th June.
One day tour was organized to Athirappilly – Vazhachaal on 11th Feb. 2010.
Demonstration classes were conducted on 3rd June.
Practice Teaching
The most significant part of B.Ed Curriculum was held from 21st June to 30th July in Second Semester of the course. We express our sincere gratitude to the entire schools for their whole hearted co-operation.
In connection with Teacher’s Day a meeting is organized on 6th Sept. 2010.
Sports Meet
Annual sports meet was conducted on 20th Feb. Sri. K A Anson, Former Indian Football player inaugurated the meet. Under the guidance of Sri Sreejith, Physical Education Lecturer. Competitions were conducted. Emerald house stood first with maximum points. Ajmal Shah from English option and Neethusha from English were declared as men and women champion respectively.
Results of 1st Semester Examination published on 22nd July 2010. We proudly announce that the college has achieved 100% pass. Out of 89 students appeared 18 passed with A Grade, 70 with B Grade and only one with C Grade.
I express thanks to Mrs. Sunitha Sebastian for her professional commitment as programme Co-ordinator.
Magazine
Along with College Day inauguration we have organized another important event – the releasing of magazine 2009 – 10.
I would like to place on record the deep appreciation of the significant contribution made by the magazine committee in releasing the magazine before the end of the course.
I specially appreciate Mubaraque Hamsa, student Editor, he deserves our deep appreciation.
We specially place on record our sincere gratitude to the college Union members for painstakingly working for magazine and other activities.
Participation in competitions
College team participated on Biju Thomas Memorial Inter Collegiate Quiz Competition organized by St. Mary’s College, Mailom, Kottayam on 5th Feb.
On 16th Feb. Team participated in Quiz competition organized by SAM College of Education, Poothotta.
College team participated in All Kerala Inter Collegiate Quiz and Elocution Competition organized by St. John the Baptist College of Education. Nedumkunnam on 28th May. The team won 3rd prize in Quiz competition and was awarded ever rolling trophy and certificates.
The participants are Anoop Eldho from physical science and Shakkeer C Muhammed from Social Science. Congratulations to the winners.
Students participated in 4th Inter Collegiate Athletic Meet organized by St. Joseph Training College, Mannanam at Nehru Stadium Kottayam on 20th May 2010. Ajmal Shah of English option won 3rd prize in 400 mts running event. Congratulations.
IGNOU B.Ed 1st year Induction meeting was conducted on 6th Feb. Dr. Divakaran Nair, Regional Director IGNOU inaugurated the meeting.
Uty inspection team visited the college on 5th Oct. 2009 in connection with extension of affiliation.
Faculty Improvement Programme
Mrs. Farsana A A participated in State level seminar on behavioural problems of school students in the emerging social scenario – Assessment and Remedial measures” organized by the school of behavioural sciences MG University on 19th Oct 2009.
All faculty members participated on academic discussion on all courses of B.Ed programme organized by All Kerala Training College Teachers Association (AKTCTA) at various training colleges from 3rd Nov. 2009 to 8th Nov.
Mrs. Chandini Shaji and Mrs. Sunitha Sebastian participated in co-ordinators meeting on choice based Credit and Semester System organized by MG University on 17th November.
Mrs. Sajitha Rasiff participated in workshop on issue based approach on teaching Social Science organized by MG University Social Science Teacher Education consortium at Sree Narayana College of Education, Muvattupuzha on 11th May, 2010.
Mr. Binu T participated in workshop on restructured Credit and Semester B.Ed programme – Natural Science Education” at St. Thomas College of Teacher Education Pala on 20th May 2010.
Mrs. Chandni Shaji participated in UGC sponsored National seminar on Innovative practices in Teacher Education organized by SNM Training College, Moothakunnam on 25th and 26th Sept. 2009.
Mrs. Chandni Shaji and Mrs. Sunitha Sebastian participated in two Day orientation programme on restructured B.Ed Curriculum sponsored by MG University at Mount Carmal College, Kottayam on 21st and 22nd Oct. 2009.
Mrs. Chandni Shaji participated in the interation cum orientation programme on environmental awareness for Teacher educators organized by Advanced centre of Environmental studies and sustainable Development. (ACESSD), an interuniversity centre at school of environmental sciences MG University Kottayam on 5th June.
Principal and all faculty members participated in the orientation programme for CBCSS grading pattern for the B.Ed 2nd Semester organized by AKTCTA on 25th June at Sree Narayana College of Education Muvattupuzha.
Before I conclude Let me extend my gratitude to our management authorities for their deep concern and whole hearted efforts for the progress of the institution.
I express my heart felt gratitude to teaching staff for their support and assistance in planning and executing educational activities.
I would like to appreciate the Union members especially Anoop Eldho – Secretary, and all the students for their co-operation in all our educational activities.
May I conclude the report with a prayer to the Almighty for his blessing in all our endeavour.
